Great News! Paypal in the Philippines
This is a too good (a beginning) to pass up.
Paypal is now available in the Philippines. I signed up and it was easy. You have to have a credit card though to be able to use it. And you have to have it verified which takes around 3 to 4 days.
This opens up a lot of possibilities even if we can’t receive funds from other paypal accounts yet. YET is the operative word. Let’s hope the government gives this a serious look. We should look forward to DOLLARS COMING IN with the introduction of Paypal.
This could generate a lot of businesses and spur economic growth. Some thoughts at Intourpreneur.com.

I think it is a great development! I’ve met a lot of people from the Phillipines who are quite passionate about making money online, and it’s great to see PayPal finalling tapping into the market by facilitating online transactions. Besides, with a GDP per head (at PPP) in the Phillipines being only $4,270, I think making income online is a more viable commercial proposition for a Phillipine than it is for someone living in a country with a much higher cost of living.
Secondly, I have always been against any form of discrimination, no matter how discreet. To me, not providing a service that can, of its nature, be global in scope simply because the target country is not rich enough is effectively a form of discrimination, and I am glad to see PayPal realising the error of its ways.
Sincerely,
George

I think making money online is one of the solutions to our country’s problems.
IMO, we as a nation inadvertently sidestepped the issues of electronic commerce and ICT in general, hence the seeming lack of basic infrastructure and policies. Paypal must have real enough reasons to include us before but thought the risks outweighed the benefits, plain and simple. Whether it was on the basis of margins or credit card fraud, it seems the Philippines is now in a position to “prove” that we deserve a spot in cyberspace.
I’m pretty sure we will find a way to maximize what we have now. It’s just a matter of time before the full services of Paypal are allowed.
But for now, let we will think of ways how to make the most out of this.
And thanks for dropping by my site.
